Although we had every intention of going to the Hampton Court Flower Show this year we finally conceded defeat having looked at the weather forecast for the week. I can only feel the constructors pain as I too have battled the elements to produce a show garden in time, no matter what the weather.!!! Obviously I always take a great interest in the show and new garden ideas but having exhibited nine times I still personally feel the show has lost something with the removal of the water gardens category, and hope somehow the RHS can reintroduce this back into the show.
Having watched the BBC coverage, although many of the gardens were lovely, some a bit weird, I can’t help feeling there was no real show stoppers. The industry needs an injection of interest, more young blood and innovation. Maybe less cooking programmes, ( everyone wants to be a chef these days) some sunshine and a new series of garden shows would spark the passion of a new generation of designers and plants people. What do you think ???
